  Remarks to the customs usage of the saluting gun shooting.                      from Karl Heinz Kaiser

Indeed, the saluting gun shooting absolutely has a steeped in tradition one, however, only partially by old chronicles provable history which might go back till the outgoing 15-th century. However, in spite of protracted, intensive investigations it has not succeeded till this day unquestionably, the time of the forming of this custom conclusively after assign. The saluting gun shooting exercised since centuries is, above all, a care old usage and has developed from the war custom to the national custom. Everywhere known and rather amusing history has taken place by the end of 17-th century in the Black Forest small town horn-rimmed mountain:

The inhabitants of “hornberg”   have it in expectation of her prince, probably Eberhard Ludwig (1677 - 1733) so long her gun salutes to the ceremonious move of her sovereign rehearsed, until the powder went out to them. The attempt, the princes with his move in the small town by the strong to deceive the saluting guns copying roarings failed of course and then led also to the punishment of the Miss's culprits. From this the saying used even today was presumably derived:

" This went out like the Hornberger shooting! "

The occurence is one of the oldest traditional proofs of the fact that was fired in German area, however, the actual origin might lie substantially further back in our past. People have tried to influence at all times with the production of noise the minds or the weather, they did this at first with all kinds of device, up to the time there black powder came into play.... The motivation for the saluting gun shooting has itself in the course of the centuries of the wish for quick spreading of warnings, improvement of the weather condition and the expulsion of bad minds, to the expression of special joy of life, to the ceremonious priming coat of festive occasions and to the honour especially of deserving or respectable members of the general public and the protection being in any form (home associations, customs usage clubs, national costume associations) develops there.

Today nobody believes more in bad minds or to be able to improve in it the weather while he sends a few gun salutes against the sky. But in general, big delight and joy can generate gun salutes on the occasion of a wedding, or the opening of a Frankish fair and also to the Einholung of the protection king as well as for the opening of other high worldly and ecclesiastical parties. The saluting gun shooting was neither in past, nor in the present to understand as an independent usage, but is always as an accompanying element for completely certain occasions in the ecclesiastical and worldly annual run component of priority customs and traditions.                              For example, the Berchtesgadener Christmas shooting or "Christmas present shooting" serves as an expression of the joy at the arrival of the Savior in our world and in his greeting. Or here the gun salutes on the occasion of a king's proclamation in our protection associations, are also they not end in itself, but accompanying accessories of an especially stately celebration.

By no means commercial purposes and purposes should be supported with it, I cannot fancy, for example, with the best will in the world, that the opening of a supermarket, or even the sales of 10,000th  property home one, to our understanding.                                                 Watch out for too many saluting gun appointments in your home town and for too many shots, with nearly 100% of all occasions 3 series are measured (e.g., row fire slowly, row fire fast and salute). Only if all these conditions were fulfilled, one can begin with the exercise of our preservation-worthy Brauchtums, provided that from the in each case responsible management of a circle authority (District Office or in cities free of circle of the ordinal velvet) a permission after:

a) explosive law §27 (Acquire, carrying, storage, using and destroying) as well as                                                                                                                               b) according to the air pollution control law of shooting beyond closed shooting places given
